What is Aromatherapy

Updated: Apr 2, 2019

Aromatherapy is the use of aromatic essential oils derived from plants for the purpose of enhancing the physical or psychological well-being of our health. Aromatherapy has been used for centuries as an alternative medicine that safely and effectively treats numerous ailments.

To create essential oils, the natural oils in certain plants are extracted and distilled, resulting in an extremely concentrated product packed with healing benefits.

There are a variety of benefits of essential oils. they trigger responses in our brains to send healing messages to our bodies. They have a huge range of benefits in many different disorders.

Scientific studies have shown that aromatherapy is a completely legitimate form of medicine.

Essential oils are more powerful than you might think. They're wonderful natural healers - strong and effective, but with practically no side-effects and no addictions. You can use aromatherapy remedies to support your health naturally…simply by using the right essential oils for the right problem at the right time.

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years in various cultures for medicinal and health purposes. Because of their antidepressant, stimulating, detoxifying, antibacterial, antiviral and calming properties,

Not all oils however are created equal. Because of a lack of industry standards and a lack of regulation on terms such as "natural" or "pure", most of what you find at cheap outlets is NOT a therapeutic grade of essential oil and may lack real quality or even contain contaminants or additives.

A lot goes into creating a high-quality essential oil. A good brand should follow these guidelines:

Proper plant varieties and Botanical names should be shown on bottles

Each plant should be grown indigenously for the healthiest plant, this should be without chemical pesticides, herbicides, or additives.

They should be harvested with precise timing to ensure peak properties and extracted with proper temperature and pressure to preserve oil molecules.

The chances are, if you’re buying a large bottle of essential oils at a pretty low price, it’s not a pure oil. Pure essential oils tend to come in smaller bottles and are more expensive. Because they are so potent you only need 1 or 2 drops per dose, and they will last quite some time.

Unfortunately buying a cheap oil results in people being disappointed in essential oils as they don’t get any benefits from them. They then tend to think there are no benefits or that they are a fad.
